Hi Lee, I thought this might be of interest as this piece of information was posted to me on the 19th February from one of Linda’s (wife) friends, knowing I was interested in birds!
This is the information - “I met a team ringing swans in Harrow Lodge park this afternoon (19/2/13). The young woman was from Abbotsbury Swannery in Dorset and the men were from the Hertfordshire Natural History Society. They are doing research into the demographics of England's swans. Some of the swans found in Harrow Lodge were ringed last year in Cheshunt and Dagenham. But they do travel even further than that; being very territorial young birds they have to go far afield to find their own territory. Apparently there is a pair who have Langtons firmly under their control and they are interested to find out in years to come how far the Langtons cygnets will have to move.”
Very interesting.
Kind Regards,
Ron Colson
